Behind The Scenes with Paris Mitchell

Behind the scenes, there is a lot of creative effort and production involved with shooting a campaign. For this season’s ‘Your Colour’ campaign, we tapped internationally-experienced stylist Paris Mitchell to create gorgeous looks for all our models that embraced their natural beauty and complimented their individual style. With a strong fashion background working for designers like Karen Walker and then Vogue US, Paris has a deep rooted love in all things fashion related.

We had the chance to catch up with Paris post shooting the campaign, and gained insight to her inspirations and her creative process.

What drew you to this concept of natural beauty?

Knowing the campaign was for a new exciting hair product, exclusive to Servilles, and that it was based around colour, it sounded like there was a lot I could play with in terms of creating looks that would enhance the hair and whole image.

What was your inspiration behind choosing the looks?

The colour palette was everything really. I needed to work to a specific hair colour on each model. I wanted to create looks that would enhance and bring out their hair in the best way possible.

What brands were worn throughout and what drew you to them for this particular concept?

Favourite New Zealand designer Penny Sage, vintage pieces from one of my favourite local vintage shops Tango, as well as archival pieces including designers like Ann Demeulemeester and The Row.

Tell us a bit about your styling process with these looks?

Sourcing within a particular colour palette for each model and hair colour, my understanding of location also inspired the looks and the rest is instinct!
