NAME: Roshannah Bagley
OCCUPATION: Textile designer/Eugenie-girl
HAIR COLOUR: Dark brown
PRODUCT OF THE MOMENT: MAC’s Classic ‘Lady Danger’ lipstick. Essentially anything of an orange-y red is a necessity.
BEST BEAUTY ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED: Learn to love your natural brows and to steer away from too much foundation, let that skin breathe!
WHAT IS KEEPING YOU INSPIRED THIS WINTER: Donna Tartt’s novel ‘The Secret History’, such a great read. One of the few books I’ve struggled to put down. I’m loving Sarah Moon’s and Serge Lutens’ photography. Their haunting and surrealistic imagery offer something new every time I glance at them. Tobias Klein’s otherworldly take on modern architecture, I’m besotted! And my grandmother’s extensive photography of Auckland from the 1930’s to 1950’s. Seeing the city through her eyes is incredible.
YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE IN AUCKLAND: My new home and studio.
YOUR FAVOURITE QUOTE AND WHY: “A designer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.” From French writer and aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. As a perfectionist myself this quote fascinates me. I’m constantly battling the notion of balance and how much is or isn’t enough.
