Queen of the crop – Jean Seberg
Jean Seberg was an actress who became the face of French New Wave cinema. For many, she was the woman with THAT hair – a super short pixie cut that was all at once androgynous, brave and beautiful. She was also a passionate civil rights campaigner – politically driven as much as she was creatively driven.
Seberg’s inaugural film, Saint Joan, a biopic about the life of Joan of Arc, didn’t do too much for her stardom but was responsible for the short pixie cut that she became known for.
